The floods of September 2024, not only caused countless material damage in large parts of the Lower Silesian and Opole Voivodeships, but also left a powerful mark on the psyche of hundreds of thousands of inhabitants of these regions, who - in addition to losing their possessions - also lost their sense of security. The Great Water has given rise to a revision of the approach to psychological interventions in the face of the fight against the elements, also in the context of support for aid workers. Domestic violence is a major challenge for the social support system and aid workers, which requires an interdisciplinary approach due to its complexity. Alongside social and legal support, psychological support is the cornerstone of effective intervention against domestic violence and also plays a key role in addressing its psychological consequences - post-traumatic stress symptoms, emotional and anxiety disorders, feelings of helplessness - which, despite the cessation of violence, are often still felt for many years. Although quite a few of today's conflicts take on the dimensions of information or economic warfare, conventional clashes still occur in some parts of the world. The most glaring example is the war taking place across our eastern border in Ukraine, in which soldiers and civilians are dying every day. The survivors need extensive support, which cannot only take the form of material support. Since 2018, Mirela Matog MSc has been working with the Police as a crisis interventionist, supporting people experiencing violence. Since 2019, she also teaches crisis intervention at SWPS University. She occasionally trains emergency officers in psychological support. In her psychotherapeutic work she supports people experiencing violence and other traumatic events.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Dr Adrianna Grabizna, Prof. WSKZ<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

Doctor of Humanities in the discipline of philosophy, specialising in issues at the intersection of biology, mental health and philosophy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She completed her Master's degree through an individual study programme in philosophy and biology at the University of Wroc\u0142aw. She obtained her European Doctorate from Universit\u00e9 Jean Moulin Lyon 3 in 2006 and her habilitation in philosophy of biology from Universit\u00e9 Paris Nanterre in France in 2015. He has a PhD in evolutionary epistemology and a habilitation in philosophy of biology. He is currently working on a book on the mechanisms of memory.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Dr Samir Rawat<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n\t

\n\t\t\t

Lieutenant Colonel Dr Samir Rawat is a war veteran and cognitive-behavioural and developmental psychologist from India. He commanded an infantry company on the world's highest battlefield, the Siachen Glacier, and was decorated by the President of India for his heroism during the Kargil conflict in 1999.<\/p>\n

He holds PhDs in psychology and management and an MPhil in defence and strategy. He has over 35 years of experience in human resource training and optimisation. He was the first psychologist at the National Defence Academy in India and worked with the military shooting team that won over 10 gold medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

He taught for six years on the Higher Command Course at the Land War College, developing, among other things, the concept of stress management for military commanders. He has authored and edited numerous publications in military psychology and is a speaker at international psychology congresses - he was the keynote speaker at the International Congress of Psychology in Prague in 2021 and 2024.<\/p>\n

Since 2023, he has been a visiting professor at the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk, where he teaches developmental psychology and individual differences.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

MA Tymoteusz Czerhoniak<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

Psychologist, graduate in applied psychology from Jagiellonian University, currently in the process of specialising in clinical psychology and clinical sexology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tymoteusz Czerhoniak, M.A., works at the Non-Public High School MEDICAL in Klodzko and at the Self-Governing School Complex in Stronie \u015al\u0105skie. He runs the Centre for Psychotherapy and Personal Development in Klodzko and co-founded the Training Centre. In addition, he works at the Provincial Centre for Long-Term Psychiatry. He actively supported the organisation of psychological help after the 2024 flood in the region of Kotlina K\u0142odzka. He works on the topics of mental crises, affective disorders, sexual health and men's psychology.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
