Uczelniane Centrum Dostępności – realna zmiana, nie deklaracja
In the early months of 2026, the Institute of Administration and Political Science consistently developed activities within the University Centre for Accessibility (UCA), treating accessibility not as a formal obligation, but as one of the key directions for the university's development.
The actions undertaken focused on building a coherent support model for individuals with special needs, as well as developing the competencies of teaching staff and students in the area of designing accessible public services.
Institutional cooperation – accessibility as a shared responsibility
One of the significant steps was establishing cooperation with the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (PFRON), which forms the foundation for further expert and training activities.
The effects of this collaboration included, among other things, carrying out:
26 March 2026.
Hybrid training for teaching staff, dedicated to working with individuals with special needs and the principles of ensuring accessibility in the teaching process.
The training was practical and responded to real challenges faced by the academic community, strengthening lecturers' competencies in inclusive education.
Accessibility in practice – from knowledge to action
The activities undertaken as part of UCD are not limited to individual events. Their aim is to systematically introduce accessibility principles into all areas of the university's functioning – from teaching, through communication, to the organisation of spaces and services.
Particular emphasis was placed on:
– raising awareness among teaching staff,
– implementing the principles of universal design in education,
– creating solutions that meet the diverse needs of students,
– building an environment based on equality of access and genuine social inclusion.
Additionally, on 28 March 2026, a meeting for students in collaboration with PFRON is planned, focusing on complaint procedures and the possibilities of asserting their rights in situations of accessibility violations.
The event aims to raise students' awareness and strengthen their agency in using the support mechanisms to which they are entitled.
University Centre for Accessibility – the Institute's direction of development
The development of the University Accessibility Centre is one of the Institute's strategic priorities. The actions taken are part of a broader process of transforming the university into a modern, socially responsible institution that is aware of the diversity of its communities.
This approach assumes that accessibility is not a one-off project, but a process – requiring continuous improvement, collaboration, and openness to change.
