Lecture by prof. dr. h.c. mult. Bruno Hołyst - legend of Polish criminalistics at WSKZ
On 17 May 2025, the Higher School of Vocational Training hosted a distinguished expert, a legend of Polish forensic science. Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Bruno Holyst. The topic of the presentation concerned the complex psychological and social mechanisms surrounding crime, victims of crime and the phenomenon of suicide - areas that Mr Professor has been exploring for decades as a researcher and lecturer.

The expert lecture by our distinguished guest attracted a very large audience of students, lecturers and passionate about law, psychology, criminology and homeland security. Professor Brunon Hołyst masterfully combined academic knowledge with practical examples, and his presentation was characterised not only by erudition, but also by an extraordinary ability to convey even the most complex content in an accessible and engaging manner to the audience.

Many of the listeners declared their willingness to further explore the issues raised, which best demonstrates the power of inspiration that comes from contact with such an eminent representative of the world of science. On 9 May 2025, the Education Quality Committee met to discuss a number of issues relating to improving the quality of education and streamlining the University's teaching and organisational processes.
Following the approval of the agenda and the adoption of the minutes of the previous meeting, the members of the Commission reviewed the draft regulations and procedures re: support for students with disabilities, transfer, recognition and completion of ECTS credits, the functioning of the Programme Boards and the Student Council.
A schedule of hospitalizations was also presented and gave its opinion on study programmes and diploma examination questions. Proposals to increase the supervision of Programme Directors over teaching activities and the availability of academic staff were also discussed. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of substantive discussion and the topics discussed were well attended by Commission Members.

Already on 7 December 2024, the College of Vocational Training in Wrocław invites all students to an extraordinary event. Our guest will be Slawomir Sikora, a well-known investigative journalist, social activist and prototype of the character Stefan from the cult film Dług directed by Krzysztof Krauze. It is a story that moved the whole country in the 1990s and sparked heated social debate. To this day prompts reflection on moral dilemmas, the limits of the law and human endurance.
Who is Slawomir Sikora?
Slawomir Sikora is a man with an extraordinary story that has shaken Poland. He was originally destined to become a successful entrepreneur, but a series of dramatic events changed his life. In the 1990s, he became a victim of extortion, threats and violence from an acquaintance from his past who turned out to be an abuser. The tragic finale of these events led him to prison, where he spent more than a decade and had to face a new reality.
In 2005, thanks to an intensive public campaign, he was pardoned by President Aleksander Kwasniewski. Thirty-eight thousand people, including prominent cultural and political figures, have signed a petition in his favour. Today Slawomir Sikora tells his story, focusing on difficult topicssuch as rehabilitation, social exclusion or human rights.
What can be expected at the meeting?
During the meeting, our guest will answer key questions about his story. You will find out:
- What led an ambitious young man to make radical decisions?
- What is prison life like from the inside?
- How can you rebuild your life after conviction and pardon?

The meeting is organised by the Institute of Law at the Higher School of Vocational Training in Wrocław. The meeting will be held 7 December 2024, on Saturday, in room 3, building "P" of the Wrocław University of Economics at 118-120 Komandorska St. Start at 5.30 p.m., finish at 7 p.m.

Workshops for homeless women
On 6 July 2024, 10:00 a.m., the St. Brother Albert's Shelter for Homeless Women in Wrocław hosted the Workshops for Women under the motto "Building relationships and mutual support". The workshop was led by a group of students from the Vocational Training College in Wrocław under the supervision of the by psychologist Bartosz Głowacki and psychologist Dr Beata Rajba.
The meeting was attended by a group of women looking to forge new relationships, exchange experiences and draw strength from others.
The atmosphere at the meeting was warm and friendly. The participants were eager to share their stories and support each other.
The workshop began with a brief introduction and introduction of the group. The participants then took part in board games, which provided an excuse to talk and reflect on important topics. Each woman was able to express herself and felt comfortable doing so.
The meeting concluded with a summary and an invitation to the next meeting, which will take place in September.
The participants were very satisfied with the workshop. In their feedback, they emphasised that the workshops were a valuable experiencewhich helped them to building relationships and coping with everyday problems.
The workshop organisers would like to thank all participants for their participation and invite them to future meetings.
