As early as 15 May 2025, students University College of Professional Education take part in the International Job Fair "With EURES to Europe!"which will take place between 09:30 and 14:00 at Tarczynski Arena Wrocław. This is the largest recruitment event in Lower Silesia, aimed at jobseekers planning their professional development or thinking about a career abroad.
More than 100 exhibitors and first-hand practical knowledge
More than 100 exhibitors from Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Slovenia are expected to attend. The event will feature presentations on apprenticeship programmes, social security schemes, career development, and franchising.

13 May 2025 another specialised workshop organised by the Institute of Psychology of the University of Vocational Training. The online meeting, led by Dr Marta Jastrzębska, a retired Prison Service officer and experienced penitentiary psychologist, brought together 25 second and third semester psychology students.
Psychological opinions in prison - theory and practice
During the two-hour workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn about the behind-the-scenes work of a psychologist in penitentiary units, with particular emphasis on the process of providing opinions. The presenter discussed issues related to the provision of psychological assistance in prison isolation, the construction of psychological opinions and psychological-penitentiary judgements on the basis of the applicable regulations.
Among the topics discussed were:
- examples of opinions and judgements created by prison psychologists;
- the rules for referring convicted prisoners to the Diagnostic Centre;
- structure of a professional opinion - from purpose and methods to conclusions and recommendations.
Valuable knowledge and practical perspective
The workshop enabled students to gain specific knowledge about the competences of a psychologist in working with people deprived of their liberty. The meeting allowed for a better understanding of the role of psychological opinion in the context of the criminal executive law and brought the reality of working in prisons and detention centres closer.
An added value of the event was the announcement of a field trip to the Detention Centre, which will take place on an agreed date - providing a practical complement to the knowledge gained during the workshop.

On 6 May 2025, second and third semester psychology students had the opportunity to take part in a unique workshop organised by the Institute of Psychology at the College of Professional Training. The meeting, conducted in an online format, was led by Dr Marta Jastrzębska, a retired Prison Service officer, who shared her knowledge and experience of working as a penitentiary psychologist.
Practice and theory - two worlds of work in penitentiary units
The workshop entitled "Psychologist in the Prison Service (official pragmatics)". lasted two hours - from 18:00 to 20:00 - and attracted a group of 25 students interested in the specifics of working in prisons and detention centres. During the meeting, participants learnt about the key provisions of the Criminal Executive Law and other regulations concerning the role of a psychologist in penitentiary units.
The workshop addressed the following issues, among others:
- The legal basis of the work of the penitentiary psychologist;
- classification of prisons and typology of the prison population;
- The impact of prison isolation on the mental state - as a total and deprivational situation.
Real-life challenges and competences of the penitentiary psychologist
The workshop aimed to make participants aware of the realities of a psychologist's work in a closed environment. Dr Jastrzębska discussed not only the formal aspects of the profession, but also pointed out the practical skills that are required on a daily basis in a penitentiary department or diagnostic centre. Students learnt what qualities and attitudes are key to performing this role effectively and ethically.
Thanks to the professionalism of the presenter and the opportunity to ask questions, participants were able to better understand the challenges faced by a psychologist working in the Prison Service units. This event not only broadened the horizons of the young psychology students, but also encouraged them to further explore this demanding but much-needed professional path.

An online workshop was held on 6 May 2025 entitled. "Psychologist in business - what for and for whom?", led by Dr Magdalena Slazyk-Sobol -. expert in the application of psychology in the business environment. The event was organised for Psychology and Business Psychology students as part of a series of practical meetings.
Competencies and career paths of a psychologist in an organisation
The meeting aimed to show the role and function of the psychologist working in the organisational structures of the, taking into account areas of activity, target groups and possible career paths. Workshop participants learned about the practical aspects of a psychologist's work in companies, became familiar with examples of ongoing projects and professional challenges, and discussed key competences necessary in the working environment.
Active student participation and debriefing
The workshop was met with great interest - students actively participated in discussions on the importance of soft skills, team collaboration and the specifics of psychological challenges in business. We would like to congratulate Dr Magdalena Slazyk-Sobol on the professional preparation of the meeting and creating a space for an inspiring, substantive exchange. An online workshop on psychological research methodology was held on 7 May 2025 from 17:00 to 19:30aimed at psychology students at the School of Vocational Training. The meeting was chaired by Dr Artur Ziolkowski, Professor at our University.
During the class, participants had the opportunity to structure and expand their knowledge of concerning the stages of the research process, formulating questions and hypotheses, identifying variables and learning about different research models. The workshop was a practical development of the content discussed during the semester lectures and was a valuable support in preparation for independent research projects. The event was planned in two parts - the next one will take place on 14 May and will deepen the issues discussed earlier.

The College of Vocational Training would like to invite students to a meeting in the series "Let's talk to practitioners!", during which our guest speaker will be Staff Sergeant Rafał Woźniak - a former forensic technician with 30 years' experience who was involved in securing and analysing evidence at crime scenes. What is the work of a forensic science technician like? What traces are crucial for court proceedings? These and other questions will be answered by our guest.
The event will be taken care of by the presenter - retired inspector Tomasz Czaja, a former district police chief in Sztum and an experienced officer with many years of experience.
About our guest
Staff Asp. Rafał Woźniak began his service in the Police in 1995. He gained his first experience in the Prevention Unit in Gdańsk, then as a patrol officer, neighbourhood policeman and investigator in the Tczew-Suchostrzygi Police Station. Since 1999, he has specialised in forensic science, performing the duties of a forensic technician at the Tczew District Police Station. For more than 25 years, he has actively participated in securing and analysing traces at crime scenes, gaining invaluable professional experience which he will share at the meeting.

12 April 2025 an important meeting was held Ms Aneta Kazanecka, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, with management students. The event created a space to discuss the functioning of the academic community, opportunities for academic development and student activity at the College of Vocational Training in Wrocław.
Supporting student initiatives and scientific development
During the meeting, the activities of the Student Government were discussed, scientific circles and were encouraged to get involved in research projects and publications in the Student Scientific Notebooks. The Vice-Dean also stressed the importance of student participation in conferences, workshops and guest lectures as important elements of academic competence development.
Psychological support and upcoming events
During the discussions, attention was drawn to the functioning of the university's Psychological Support Centrewhich offers assistance to students in crisis situations. The Vice-Dean also encouraged participation in upcoming scientific events, with a special focus on the 21st International Congress "Forensics and Forensic Expertise: Science, Studies, Practice", which will take place on 18-20 September 2025 at the European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk. "The role of NGOs in the search for missing persons" - meeting with Ms Anna Jurkiewicz, President of the ITAKA Foundation
As early as Saturday 26 April 2025, at 11:30am a unique guest lecture aimed at students of the Higher School of Management "Education" in Wrocław will take place in the Auditorium of the Higher School of Vocational Education. The guest speaker will be Ms Anna Jurkiewicz President of the Board of the ITAKA Foundation - Searching for Missing People Centre, one of the key NGOs in Poland dealing with disappearances and support for their families. The topic of the lecture will be: "The role of non-governmental organisations in the search for missing persons on the example of the activities of the ITAKA Foundation"..
This meeting is a unique opportunity to find out, how organisations supporting the families of missing persons function, the challenges faced by those involved and the importance of the role of psychological support in such situations.
The ITAKA Foundation and its mission to support the families of missing persons
The ITAKA Foundation has for years played a key role in the search for missing persons and in educational and prevention activities. The organisation cooperates with the police, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and many other state institutions to more effectively prevent disappearances and support the families of missing persons.
As part of its activities, the Foundation operates a helpline, organises social action and media campaigns, and is involved in shaping public policy on the rights of missing persons and their relatives. Many of these activities have become possible thanks to the commitment and vision of Ms Anna Jurkiewicz.
Who is Anna Jurkiewicz?
Ms Anna Jurkiewicz has headed the ITAKA Foundation - Searching for Missing People Centre since December 2012. He actively represents the organisation internationally, including in debates organised by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Under her leadership, the Foundation develops cooperation both at home and abroad, constantly raising the standards of support for the families of missing persons. Ms Anna Jurkiewicz's commitment, experience and vast knowledge make her the lecture will not only be a source of reliable knowledge, but also an inspiration for reflection on the social aspects of disappearances and the role of psychological support in crisis situations.

As early as 12 April 2025, in the Auditorium of the School of Management 'Education', a unique guest lecture will be held pt. "The functioning of the EU banking system in the context of globalisation in terms of economic security: current status and prospects". The meeting will begin at 12.45pm and last until 1.45pm.
The lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. Igor Britchenko - a prominent economist and specialist in economic security. The lecture will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the current challenges facing the European Union's banking system in a dynamically changing economic and geopolitical reality.

Professor Britchenko is a renowned researcher with an impressive international record. He holds professorial positions at universities in Slovakia, Ukraine and Bulgaria, and he earned degrees and diplomas in 11 European countries, among others. in Poland, Greece, Germany i United Kingdom.
His research interests include economics, finance, banking, marketing, management, security and international relations. He is the author of more than 500 scientific publicationsincluding over 150 works published in EU countries, 50 monographs (of which 9 individual) and 13 academic textbooks.
Prof. Britchenko's output is widely cited in international scientific databases such as Scopus, ResearchGate, Google Scholar, Publons or Semantic Scholar.
